» Looking for the Man

Recorded in my apartment in NYC from 95 to 96. Recorded the album using one ADAT(16 bit), a Mackie 1604 , Joe Meek tube
compressor, power Mac with early version of cubase, used AKG c3000 and EV RE20 mics, and 57's.

Guest musicians include the Honorable Nat Seely. Nat was a great influence on me during my years in New York. I learned so much
from him and I love him dearly. we could groove like mad in a rythm section, either bass or drums for both of us!!! Anyway, he
played ride cymbol and brush snare on this song. Trombone was performed by Chris Dowd of Fishbone fame, some of it I sampled
and placed in different spots. The Stratocaster was played by Woody Pak.  I met Woody playing bass on a house Jazz album project.

The group was called Wall of Sound and the main artist on the project was Lem Springsteen. I met Lem when I was a door man a
really huge moving party in the mid 90s.(NYC) Lem did deep house stuff, and had about five or six records out. I played bass on several of Lem produced tracks for Eight Ball Records in NYC.  It was a trip to hear a song at a club, and say, hey this
sounds familiar,, wait, what is this??

oh yea, thats my bass line!!! Anyway, Woody was a good kid; he had just graduated from Julliard music school, and was very eager to get busy. I know he must be a bad ass by now. I did everything else on this track. Interesting to note is that the piano sound I was using was a grand sample or something, but I had some weird Midi controller stuff happening and some of the notes stop here and there but I didnt care because the performance was cool and I couldnt fix it anyway. I also double track the bass, one fretted, and then one fretless. Small sound samples up the butt, mostly from obscure dub stuff, and at the end of the track,  I noted a influence from sting by sampling giant steps are what you take vocal line from Regatta Deblancs "walking on the moon".  It is subtle but audible.

Enjoy the track
