NBC hates Vegetables and Christians
Posted on September 30th, 2006 No commentsI fired this off today to the Chairman of NBC over the censorship of the Veggie Tales cartoon series:Â
Dear Chairman Wright,
I’m sure I’ll get some typical scripted response to this message, but I still wanted to put NBC on notice. My family will no longer watch your network.
Your concern that a few Biblical references in the Veggie Tales series will offend non-Christians is laughable. You show no such concern of offending Christians when you lampoon them and mock their faith with other things you broadcast. (Can you say “Madonna”?) And, since when do people have a right not to be offended in the first place? The very notion of the First Amendment rights guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution imply that someone is always offended about something – or there would be no need to guarantee freedom of speech.
What is it exactly that NBC finds so offensive about “God made you special and He loves you very much” spoken by computer-generated, talking vegetables?
The people running NBC are obviously anti-Christian bigots who have no problem offending millions of Christians while bowing down in fear of doing the same to followers of Islam. The correct thing to do would be to not only lampoon all the religions of the world equally, but also allow the message of each to be heard un-censored. Sadly, the only “correctness” NBC is interested in is that of the political kind.
I for one, will not tune in to NBC until this hypocrisy stops. And, I will encourage my friends and extended family to do the same. If only non-Christians in America watched NBC, you’d loose over 75% of your viewers. How much would your advertisements be worth then?

Freedom of, not From…

What is really sad here is that churches have always been a political force. The tax-exempt status in today’s modern America is simply a tactic used to diminish the power of churches in politics. Understand… there are Progressive and Conservative churches; their voices should be heard as much as any other organization. What about the power secular corporations have with their high-paid lobbyists? There doesn’t seem to be much regulation there.Being a religious Progressive or Conservative should not exempt you from getting involved in politics… as an individual or as an organization. And, since there is no way for anyone to effectively “police” (for lack of a better term) any particular church’s sermons for political speech… you can be sure that it is happening everywhere anyway. The only time we hear about it is when someone who considers said church’s opinion as damaging to their agenda uses these tax-exempt laws as a way to attack the church and silence their speech.
Think about it.

Fat People
Posted on September 20th, 2006 No commentsMy web site is my playground, for all intent and purposes. I’ve got music and home-recording info, commentary, photos, music downloads and lots of other stuff here for people to cruise. I don’t get a lot of traffic… around 30,000 visits a month. But, in the end, I’m just a guy with a garage-studio who piddles about on the web.
I check my logs regularly. It is fun to see who is visiting and, of course, I have to fight the spammers from spamming my comments and the hackers from hacking into my web site and posting “Death to America” stuff… One of the cool things about my stats system is that it will tell you which search engines people found you on and what keywords are being used to find you.
Which brings me to this.. For over a year now, the top search phrase used to hit my site from search engines has been “Fat People“. Now, granted, in my photo gallery there are 3 or 4 pictures of fat people amoungst hundreds of other pictures. Yet, people looking for pictures of “fat people” make up the bulk of the visits I get from search engines. The rest comes from people finding my site through links on other sites.
Now, seriously, WTF does that say about society in general? I don’t know… but, it can’t be a good thing.

Can’t we just all Get Along?

So, this is what American Muslims think of the rest of us: “Don’t talk to the Muslim girls, ever, but you are going to marry them. As for the non-Muslim girls, talk to them, but don’t ever bring one home.”In another article: “Al-Qaida in Iraq warned Pope Benedict XVI on Monday that its war against Christianity and the West will go on until Islam takes over the world, and Iran’s supreme leader called for more protests over the pontiff’s remarks on Islam.”
We are being told that the Islamic Extremists are just a small group withint Islam and that Islam is a religion of peace. Sorry… I just don’t believe it.
